You here all the time about fishing being good and guys catching 30, 40, or even 50 fish. These are good if not great days here on Lake Okeechobee, however, on a recent trip with Laynce Nix from Dallas, TX (3rd trip with me) we crushed them to the tune of 119 total fish on artificial. The biggest fish of the day was 6.99 lbs while the average fish was 2 – 3 lbs. We boated over 30 fish that went 3lbs or bigger with a handful of 5 lbs mixed in.
The day started off with a good spinnerbait bite then switched to a big ez (which the fish ate all day) and caught some on a senko as well. This was a day you dream about as we caught fish after fish and didn’t matter where we went.
Lake Okeechobee is fishing strong right now. Look for the morning bite to get better as we move into the summer pattern of following the shad.
Check out some great photos below and a big thanks to Micah Owings handling the fish counter after lunch. The 99 and 100 fish came on a double with the 100 fish weighing in at 5 lbs. What a great day with some great guys.
