Over the last few weeks Lake Okeechobee has really been fishing great. Both the live bait and artificial bites have been very good but most of the great big girls have been caught on live bait. Some live bait 8 hour trips have been close to hitting the 100 fish mark with the average 8 hour trip catching 40+ fish.
Most trips have yielded fish over 6 lbs on a daily basis on both live bait and artificial, however, the live bait bite has been more consistent. If you are thinking about fishing Lake Okeechobee I would highly recommend coming now as fishing is great and will continue being very good for the next few months. My personal favorite time of the year is March and April, cold fronts are not playing much of a factor and the warming water gets fish feeding like crazy.
