I had the privilege of taking out Don Wenske and his buddy Lenny from Texas this morning and it was a great day here on the Big “O”. Don and Lenny booked a trip with us as there families were vacationing in Orlando and these guys wanted a day to just get away and relax here on Lake Okeechobee.
This was a first for both Don and Lenny fishing here on Lake Okeechobee and I feel as though when the families vacation down this way again we will be seeing these guys for another fishing trip. The morning started off pretty good for about an hour or so with steady fish catching and mixing in a few nice ones as well. As the day progressed fishing slowed down some but we managed to still bounce around and catch some here and there.
All in all a below average day for how the lake has been fishing. We boated 25 bass, numerous catfish, mudfish and gar along the way as well. Biggest fish of the day belonged to Don with a solid 6 + lb largemouth. The average size was down from recent trips but I am sure once some of this front finishes moving through we will be back to catching them better then ever.
Just a fun fact that Don informed me of: Don’s hometown is Brenham located in Texas! Send us a email booking a trip and let me know what delicious company is found here! The correct answer will receive $25 off.
