The recent guided fishing trips with clients have been a great success, with large quantities of fish being caught as well as some big Lake Okeechobee bass mixing in as well. Most trips start early with fast action during the early morning. Some clients are choosing to throw artificial early and then switching to shiners as the day progresses. While some clients live bait fish for the entire time. Both of these methods have yielded similar results, with lots of fish early with the bigger fish mixing in throughout the morning bite.
The average fishing trip on Lake Okeechobee right now is catching 40+ fish every day and some trips are even catching 40 fish in the first hour, depending on the mood of the fish. With the average fish being over 2lbs (every week the fish appear to be getting bigger and bigger) and some bigger fish being in the mix as well (5-8 lbs).
Guides are all on similar artificial patterns which consists of top water and/or spinnerbait early, then switching to some sort of soft plastic as the day prolongs.
